Some examples of what we can repair includes:
- Torn or missing fringe – Fringe seems like it may just be an ornamental piece of your rug, but many times it is actually the skeleton that holds your rug together. The white frilly ends are usually the left-over pieces of fabric that are running through your entire your rug and holding together every other piece of fabric running the opposite direction. This means damage to your frills can compromise the entire structure of your rug and cause it to unravel. Because we are knowledgeable and experienced with many of the various weaving techniques from around the world, we can successfully replace and fix missing or torn fringes to restore its decorative touch and to maintain the integrity of your rug.
- Stitching loose edges and fabrics – Needless to say, loose seams and edges can lead to more damage if not addressed quickly and properly. Our sewing experts can stitch these areas, using a weaving style similar to the original artist’s. Obviously, we don’t come from generations of weavers like these artists, but our technicians have spent much time studying various weaving techniques and are able to stitch together loose fabrics, making it almost impossible to tell where the repair was made.
- Adding loops for wall-mounting – Hanging ornate area rugs is a beautiful way to display your unique tribal rug or Kilim rug. It keeps it safe away from foot traffic and allows everyone to appreciate its intricate design. However, these are rugs can be heavy, and if not hung properly, can inflict damage to it. Our expert seamstresses can help you display your area rug safely by sewing loops that will provide you with a functional and custom hanging look.
- Patching holes – Customers are often surprised to find that we are able to fix large holes in their rug. It is a complicated task, and takes a keen artistic eye, but we can do it. We are so well-crafted in the handmade weaving process that we are able to create a patch that replicates the original design and is virtually unnoticeable. This means no more moving your furniture to hide holes. It will be so close that you will be able to rotate your rug and your room’s layout with pride.
